Micrometer absolute precision

The distance series is mecorad`s radar-based precise distance measurement sensor. It is set up for challenging environments in the hot metal and steel industry. Whether you are working with red-hot or cold metal, whether cooling water, fog or dirt are obstructing the view – the distance series scout detects reliably and fast in real-time.




Use of distance series

The distance series is set up to measure distances of hot or cold objects. The distance series works accurately and with low maintenance even under conditions of dirt, dust, extreme heat, thermal radiance or aerosols. The information is delivered to the PLC via Modbus/TCP.


Absolute precision with single micrometer accuracy is available in a highly flexible window of up to 2.500 mm. Measurement distance is from 200mm to 20.000mm, and micrometer accuracy can be reached up to 5.000mm total distance range. Our sensor´s housing is protected by IP68 rating.



Due to its compact size, the distance series fits perfectly even in tight production lines. The sensor operates at a temperature range of -20ºC to +70ºC. Heat can be shielded off completely by measuring through refractory material or ceramics.  Four drillings on the back and two drillings on the base of the housing support easy installation.
